Let’s host!!!
In all transparency- I have always loved hosting, but it hasn’t really been something I’ve done since Cody’s accident. Night time is by far the hardest part of our day, but it felt so great to welcome people into our home!
Save this post for an easy list to follow next time you are hosting!
What I love about hosting is you have the opportunity to make people feel special and welcome! You can do simple things that make them feel like you are excited for them to be there!
A little preparation goes a long way – and it doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive to make people feel special!
These are 5 things I always do before hosting!
1. Get fresh flowers – They make the house smell great, and they add some warmth, and they make me feel special too! Trader Joes is my go to for this!
2. Wipe down bathrooms – I shared a bathroom with all three of my brothers growing up, and I am very particular about a clean bathroom! I make sure to refill napkins and toilet paper, and soap- and of course light a candle!
3. Get snacks and drinks ready – this will of course depend on what you are hosting, but even for something simple I like to have some choices. I think about who is pregnant, dietary restrictions and what time of day people are coming over
4. Vacuum and tidy up – I save this for the end because we have three kids and two dogs! I only focus on the areas where people will be- that’s just real life
5. Light candles, and play background music – I love having a signature scent for the house depending on the season! A great candle and some good music makes everyone feel cozy! I love this ambiance scenes you can play from you tube on the TV!
Now, all we need are friends to arrive!
I have so much fun having friends over, and while I wouldn’t say it is ever convenient in this stage of life, it is definitely worth it!
