Mornings in our house are anything but quiet—especially with three kids under seven! If I want any alone time, the early morning hours are my saving grace. And let’s be honest, getting up is the hardest part (okay, maybe the cold plunge takes that title), but once the caffeine and endorphins kick in, it gets so much easier.
When I became a working mom, I quickly realized I needed a routine. I had to figure out how to fill my cup before it ran empty. That’s where my morning routine comes in. Exercise, faith, affirmations, and gratitude have become the foundation of my mornings, but it wasn’t always like this.
If you’re just starting out, don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do it all at once. Start with waking up just 5 or 10 minutes earlier and build from there. Small, sustainable steps make all the difference.
My routine also shifts throughout the year. Right now, I’m transitioning from spring break back to school mode, which means adjusting our mornings to get everyone out the door on time. Having a solid morning routine helps me stay grounded during these changes and keeps the chaos to a minimum.
Here are a few tips that help me get up and start on the right foot!
Set your alarm somewhere where you have to physically get out of bed to turn it off. I leave mine in our bathroom.
Have your favorite cozy blanket and devotional ready to go, and your favorite candle on standby!
When that alarm dings, I want you to countdown 5-4-3-2-1, and then get your booty up!
Make yourself a pitcher of infused water to help you get rehydrated

Like any habit, it takes time to establish. Your routine will look different than mine, but take what applies to you, and create your own. Start with 5 minutes earlier, set your alarm somewhere in the room you have to get up to turn it off, and prepare for the morning the night before.
I hope this helps you!!
