Easter has always held a special place in our hearts – it’s a celebration of hope, joy, and the beautiful reminder of renewal. But if you’re anything like me, the aisles of candy and endless plastic trinkets can start to feel… a little overwhelming.
Instead of filling baskets with sugary overloads and things that end up forgotten, I’ve been shifting toward something more intentional—baskets that still feel magical and playful, but also reflect the heart of why we celebrate.
If you’re looking to do the same this year, here’s a simple formula that brings more meaning (and less stress) to your Easter basket prep:
🌞 Something for the Sun
Think ahead to summer! Include something that gets your little one excited for warmer weather—like a new swimsuit, sunglasses, goggles, water bottle, beach towel, or sun hat. These are things they’ll actually use and enjoy for months to come.
🎟️ Something to Do
Add a little experience-based joy with a homemade coupon book. Think “ice cream date with Mom,” “trip to the library,” or “game night with Grandpa.” These small moments make the biggest memories.
🎨 Something to Create
Fuel their imagination with supplies for baking or crafting—mini aprons, cookie cutters, kid-safe kitchen tools, or an art kit. Not only does it encourage creativity, but it’s also a chance to spend quality time together.
📚 Something to Explore
Add a new book, puzzle, nature scavenger hunt, or activity pad to spark curiosity and learning. Easter morning becomes the beginning of an adventure!
🎁 Something Just for Fun
This is the “just because” gift—something they’ve been wishing for, whether it’s a small toy, a favorite character plush, or a trendy item they’ve been eyeing.
Healthier Easter Treats Kids Will Still Love
I know many of us still love including a few sweet treats (because what’s Easter without at least one chocolate bunny, right?). Whether you’re stuffing baskets, prepping for church events, or planning school celebrations, there are so many better-for-you options available now.
If you’re trying to cut back on sugar or avoid artificial dyes this year, you’re in luck—many kid-approved treats are made with cleaner ingredients, naturally colored with fruit and veggie extracts, and are still totally fun and festive.
✨ Think organic gummies, dye-free chocolate eggs, fruit leathers, or even homemade goodies!
It’s all about balance – a little bit of intentionality mixed with a little bit of indulgence. And hey, tossing in a Reese’s? Still totally allowed. 😉
Easter doesn’t have to be stressful – or a sugar high waiting to happen. With just a little planning, you can put together a basket that’s both meaningful and magical. And best of all, most of these items can be found right on Amazon or at your favorite local shops (yes, budget-friendly options included!).
However you’re celebrating this season, I hope it’s full of connection, joy, and little reminders of what really matters.
