TLDR VERSION (I’m just here for a link or recipe)
Over the years, my mornings have shifted—through pregnancies, newborn seasons, work transitions, personal growth, and everything in between. But one thing has stayed the same: when I start my day intentionally, I feel more grounded, more present, and more aligned with the kind of mom, wife, and woman I want to be.

This routine isn’t about checking boxes or achieving productivity—it’s about filling up first so I can pour out from a place of fullness. Here’s what my mornings look like in this current season of life.

I try to wake up before the rest of the house—ideally before the sun—but realistically, it doesn’t always happen that way. When I do get that early start, the quiet is everything.

Instead of reaching for my phone (which I’ve learned only leads to distraction or stress), I try to open my eyes slowly, stretch, and take a few deep breaths. Sometimes I’ll say a short prayer or affirmation in my head—just something gentle to help me center myself before jumping into the day.

That first 5–10 minutes of the day can feel sacred. It’s a reminder: I get to choose the tone for my day.

Here are a few tips that help me get up and start on the right foot!

    N

Set your alarm somewhere where you have to physically get out of bed to turn it off. I leave mine in our bathroom.

    N

Have your favorite cozy blanket and devotional ready to go, and your favorite candle on standby!

    N

When that alarm dings, I want you to countdown 5-4-3-2-1, and then get your booty up!

    N

Make yourself a pitcher of infused water to help you get rehydrated

Before coffee, I’ve gotten into the habit of starting with a warm mug of tea and lemon. It’s hydrating, soothing, and supports digestion—plus, there’s something grounding about the ritual of making it.

This little practice helps me delay the caffeine a bit, which I’ve noticed helps my hormones and energy levels feel more balanced. It’s also my first quiet act of self-care: a pause, a deep breath, a warm sip. Nothing rushed.

Next, I sit down with my journal and devotional. This part of my morning is truly the anchor for everything else. I’ll read a few verses of scripture or a devotional passage, then reflect—writing down a few things I’m grateful for, a truth I want to hold onto, or a prayer for the day.

Some mornings, I only get 5 quiet minutes. Others, I linger longer. Either way, this time reminds me who I am, what matters, and where my peace comes from.

Gratitude journaling, even in its simplest form, shifts my mindset. It moves me from “what needs to be done” to “what I already have.” And that is a powerful place to start the day.

Okay, this one might surprise you! The cold plunge is a newer habit I’ve added—and to be honest, I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. It’s intense, but it’s also incredibly energizing.

A few minutes in cold water helps reduce inflammation, support immunity, and boost mood (hello, endorphins!). But even more than that, it’s become a daily challenge that reminds me: I can do hard things. That small win first thing in the morning sets a tone of courage and discipline that carries into everything else I do.

It’s not always easy to get in—but I’ve never regretted it.

After warming up and waking up my body, I move it. My workouts aren’t about chasing a number or fitting a mold—they’re about strength, energy, and confidence.

Depending on the day, I’ll do a strength circuit, bodyweight workout, a spin ride, or even a mobility/stretch session. Sometimes I’ll walk on the treadmill with ankle weights while listening to worship music or a podcast. The key is consistency and showing up in a way that feels sustainable for this season.

I absolutely love my Hydrow Rower because it gives me an incredible full-body workout in such a short amount of time—and I can do it all from the comfort of home. The immersive workouts make me feel like I’m actually out on the water, and the instructors are so motivating. It’s quiet, smooth, and somehow both calming and energizing at the same time. As a busy mom, it’s become one of my favorite ways to move, clear my head, and stay consistent.

Movement clears my mind, helps regulate my emotions, and keeps me strong for all the demands of motherhood and life.

Post-workout, it’s time to fuel. I make a high-protein smoothie that usually includes frozen fruit, greens, nut butter or seeds, protein powder, and a little healthy fat like avocado or flax oil.

It’s quick, satisfying, and sets the tone for the day when it comes to making nourishing choices. The kids often want a sip or their own version too, which makes it feel like a shared habit in our home.

This step reminds me that eating well doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to be intentional.

You can grab some of my absolute favorite smoothie recipes HERE.

At this point, its time to shift gears into “mama mode” and start breakfast for the kids. I aim for simple, balanced meals—eggs and toast, oatmeal and berries, yogurt parfaits, or sometimes just a smoothie bowl with fun toppings.

I even created a little breakfast and lunch menu to have on our fridge so it’s one less thing to think about as the kiddos all start getting up! Click HERE to get a copy for yourself!

It’s also a time of connection. I might ask them how they slept, what they’re looking forward to that day, or just enjoy a few silly moments around the table.

This part of the routine reminds me: nourishing my family well doesn’t mean fancy. It means showing up, creating rhythm, and bringing love into the little moments.

Once the kids are settled and eating, then I pour my coffee. There’s something about that first sip when the house is finally moving—it just hits different. While I sip, I’ll tidy up a bit—dishes, lunchboxes, a quick wipe-down of the counters.

It may not sound glamorous, but I love this small rhythm. It gives me a sense of accomplishment early in the day and helps the kitchen feel more peaceful before the day really starts.

If the morning allows, I love sneaking in a quick walk. Even just 10–15 minutes makes a huge difference. Sometimes I push a stroller, sometimes it’s solo. Sometimes I listen to something uplifting, other times I walk in silence.

It’s another chance to breathe deeply, get a little sunlight, and reconnect with my thoughts before the busyness begins.

The final piece of my morning is getting ready—nothing fancy, but I’ve learned that taking even a few minutes to shower, do my skincare, and put on a fresh outfit makes a huge difference in how I show up.

I have shared this dress a thousand times but it is just so cute and comfy and the absolute perfect summer dress, I just have to share it again!

I use my favorite hair cream on days that I decide to blow dry my hair (seriously it’s the best!) and follow up with my favorite mousse (it smells AMAZING.)

Even if I’m just at home or working behind the scenes, this act reminds me that I’m worth showing up for. And when I feel my best, I mother better, work better, and carry more confidence into the day.

I know routines look different for every family, and different seasons bring different needs. But having a morning rhythm that fills me up—spiritually, mentally, physically—makes all the difference in how I’m able to show up for the people I love and the life I’m building.

My encouragement? Start small. Choose one or two habits that bring you peace and build from there. There’s no “right” way to do mornings—but there is a right way for you.
