Evenings in our house are a mix of cozy chaos and little rhythms that keep tomorrow running smoothly. I thought I’d share what a typical night looks like around here – because as much as I love routines, I also love those small moments that make family life feel special.
The first thing I do is scoop up the kids from school or activities, and once we’re home, I head straight into “reset mode.” Laundry gets started, and I lay out clothes for tomorrow. This little bit of prep saves so much stress in the mornings.
We do what I call the “victory lap” – lunchboxes in the kitchen, shoes and backpacks put away, everything back in its place. It might not sound glamorous, but it makes all the difference when the house isn’t a maze of bags and sneakers the next morning.
Once the kids are settled, I pack lunches. It only takes a few minutes, and knowing it’s done makes mornings run so much smoother.
Check out some of my favorite lunch recipes for back to school!

Then comes one of my favorite parts of the evening: dinner together. I’m all about quick 30-minute meals that let me get something tasty and balanced on the table without overcomplicating it.
After dinner, the rhythm continues—bath time, homework, and finally bedtime for the kids. Once they’re down, it’s time for me. I slip into the sauna, which has been such a relaxing, game-changing addition to my evenings. It’s where I let the day melt away.
After that, I shower and move into my evening skincare routine (because yes, moms deserve those little rituals, too).

Before heading to bed myself, I do one last lap of the house, picking up anything left behind so we can all wake up to a fresh start.
By the time I crawl into bed, I feel both accomplished and ready for rest. Our evenings might be busy, but they’re also where family rhythms and self-care come together.
