As the weather cools and the leaves start to change, there’s nothing better than filling your home with warm, cozy scents. A fall simmer pot is the easiest way to make your house smell like autumn without lighting a candle. It’s all natural, budget-friendly, and the fragrance will last for hours.

What is a Simmer Pot?

A simmer pot is simply a blend of fresh fruits, herbs, and spices simmered in water on your stovetop or in an electric simmering pot. As the ingredients warm up, they release their natural aromas, filling your home with a fresh and inviting scent.

Unlike candles or store-bought air fresheners, simmer pots are completely customizable, using ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. Plus, they’re free from synthetic fragrances and chemicals, making them a healthier choice for your home and family.

My Favorite Fall Simmer Pot Recipe

Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 4 cinnamon stick
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

How to make it:

  1. Fill a medium pot about halfway with water.
  2. Add all ingredients.
  3. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to the lowest setting and let it simmer.
  4. Check the pot every so often, adding more water as needed.

That’s it! Within minutes, your kitchen will be filled with the cozy scent of cinnamon, apple, and clove – like autumn in a pot.

This is one of my favorite little seasonal rituals, and I love putting it on the stove whenever I’m hosting or just want to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s also a thoughtful touch if you’re having family over for the holidays.
