There’s something about the flavors of sage, thyme, and brown butter that instantly feels like fall. This Brown Butter Stuffing Snack Mix takes all of those cozy, savory flavors and turns them into an irresistibly crunchy snack. With Chex, Cheez-Its, pretzels, oyster crackers, and stuffing cubes tossed in a rich, herby brown butter mixture, every bite is salty, buttery, crispy, and packed with flavor. It’s perfect for football weekends, fall gatherings, holiday parties, or keeping a big bowl on the counter for everyone to snack on throughout the week.

Brown Butter Stuffing Snack Mix

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Cheez-Its
  • 2 cups sourdough pretzel pieces
  • 2 cups oyster crackers
  • 2 cups plain stuffing cubes
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon powder
  • 1½ teaspoons rubbed sage
  • 1½ teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon celery salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F.
  2. On a large rimmed baking sheet (I used a 16 x 22-inch sheet pan), add the Rice Chex, Cheez-Its, sourdough pretzel pieces, oyster crackers, and stuffing cubes. Gently toss everything together and spread it across the pan.
  3. Add the butter to a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring or swirling occasionally, until the butter foams and the milk solids turn golden brown and smell nutty, about 4–6 minutes. Watch it closely toward the end so it doesn’t burn.
  4. Remove the brown butter from the heat. Whisk in the Worcestershire sauce, chicken bouillon, rubbed sage, onion powder, thyme, celery salt, garlic powder, parsley, black pepper, and kosher salt.
  5. Drizzle half of the brown butter mixture evenly over the snack mix. Toss well directly on the sheet pan. Drizzle with the remaining butter mixture and toss again until everything is evenly coated.
  6. Spread the snack mix into an even layer.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, gently stirring every 15 minutes so everything toasts evenly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the snack mix cool completely on the pan. It will continue to crisp as it cools.
  9. Taste and add a small pinch of kosher salt if desired. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
