Looking for a fun twist on taco night? These Ground Chicken Wonton Tacos are a crispy, flavor-packed crowd pleaser! Juicy, savory chicken is tucked into oven-baked wonton shells and topped with a crunchy slaw and a drizzle of sweet chili sauce. They’re light, fresh, and easy to customize – perfect for family dinners, game day spreads, or casual hosting. Pair with a quick veggie stir fry for a colorful, well-rounded meal that comes together in under 30 minutes!
Ground Chicken Wonton Tacos
For Chicken Filling:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- ½ medium onion, finely diced
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
For Slaw:
- 1 (14 oz) bag coleslaw mix
- 4 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
For the Tacos:
- 16 wonton wrappers
- Sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade – see below!)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for serving
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Spray or brush both sides of each wonton wrapper with oil.
- Drape wrappers over the bars of an oven-safe cooling rack set on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 7–8 minutes, check and rotate/flip if needed, then bake another 2–3 minutes until golden and crisp. Let cool slightly.
- Sauté diced onion in oil over medium heat until soft (2–3 min).
- Add ground chicken, cook until browned (5–6 min).
- Stir in hoisin, sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Simmer 2–3 minutes until well mixed.
- In a bowl, mix coleslaw and green onions.
- Whisk sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey in a small bowl.
- Pour over slaw and toss to coat evenly.
- Fill each crispy wonton shell with chicken.
- Top with slaw, drizzle with chili sauce, and garnish with cilantro, sesame seeds, and lime wedges.

Microwave-Friendly Homemade Sweet Chili Sauce
Ingredients:
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup rice vinegar
- ¼ cup honey (or sugar)
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- ½ to 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (slurry)
Directions:
- Whisk all ingredients except slurry in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave on high for 1 minute.
- Stir in slurry and continue in 30-sec intervals (1–2 min) until thickened.
- Let cool 5–10 minutes before using.
