Summer may bring a slower pace, but between camps, sports, pool days, vacations, appointments, and keeping everyone fed, the weeks can still feel surprisingly busy! Taking a little time on Sunday to look ahead can help your family stay organized while leaving plenty of room for spontaneous summer fun.

This Summer Sunday Family Prep Checklist is designed to help you plan meals, prepare for upcoming activities, restock seasonal essentials, and start the week with a calmer home and a clear plan. You don’t have to complete every task – just focus on what will make the biggest difference for your family that week.

Family:

Review the Weekly Schedule:
Look over camps, work schedules, appointments, practices, playdates, vacations, and other plans. Make sure everyone knows what is happening and when.

Plan Meals for the Week:
Choose meals that work with your schedule, especially on nights when you’ll be coming home from the pool, sports, or summer activities. Let each family member choose one meal to make planning easier. Click HERE to grab my menu and grocery list for this week!

Create a Grocery List:
Check your refrigerator, freezer, and pantry before making your list. Don’t forget easy breakfasts, grab-and-go lunches, refreshing snacks, and plenty of drinks for hot summer days. (You can also print mine and then add essentials to it!)

Hold a Quick Family Meeting:
Take a few minutes to talk through the week, coordinate transportation, divide responsibilities, and discuss any special plans.

Set Weekly Goals:
Encourage each family member to choose one simple goal—reading a new book, spending more time outside, helping with a household task, or trying something new.

Review Emergency Contacts and Plans:
Make sure children and caregivers have updated contact information. Review water safety, severe-weather plans, and what to do if plans unexpectedly change.

Home:

Do Laundry:
Wash the clothes, swimsuits, towels, uniforms, or camp items everyone will need during the week.

Lay Out Outfits for the Week:
Check the schedule and weather, then prepare outfits for camps, activities, dinners, appointments, or day trips.

Tidy Up Common Areas:
Spend 15–20 minutes resetting the kitchen, living room, entryway, and other high-traffic spaces. A quick Sunday reset can make the entire week feel more manageable.

Restock Household Essentials:
Check toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, toiletries, snacks, bottled water, and anything else your family regularly uses.

Check the Weather Forecast:
Summer weather can change quickly! Look ahead for extreme heat, rain, or storms so you can adjust activities and prepare what everyone will need.

Wellness:

Schedule Self-Care Time:
Choose one realistic moment for yourself during the week, whether that’s enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, taking a walk, reading, or relaxing by the pool.

Plan Exercise for the Week:
Decide when movement will fit into your schedule. This might include a workout, an early-morning walk, swimming, bike rides, or an active family outing.

Prep Make-Ahead Meals and Snacks:
Wash and cut produce, portion snacks, prepare easy breakfasts, or make a few lunches ahead of time. A little preparation makes it much easier to avoid the last-minute “What are we eating?” scramble. Click HERE to see what I prepped for the week!

Kids:

Restock Summer Essentials:
Check sunscreen, bug spray, water bottles, hats, sunglasses, and any other items your family uses regularly during the summer.

Plan Outdoor Activities Around the Weather:
Look for cooler parts of the day for outdoor play and prepare a few indoor backup activities in case of rain or extreme heat.

Gather Pool, Beach, or Sports Gear:
Pack towels, goggles, swimwear, sports equipment, camp supplies, and anything needed for upcoming outings. Keeping everything together makes it much easier to get out the door on time.

This checklist should help you start the week feeling organized and ready to tackle whatever comes your way!

Summer doesn’t have to be perfectly planned to feel organized. A simple Sunday reset can help you spend less time scrambling during the week and more time enjoying the season with your family!
