There’s something about fall that makes me want to slow down, cozy up, and gift a little sweetness to the people I love. Whether you’re hosting a dinner, thanking a teacher, or just surprising a friend, these adorable mini caramel apple jars are the perfect thoughtful touch. Made with just one ingredient, this homemade Crockpot Caramel Sauce feels like magic in a jar – rich, creamy, and perfectly giftable. Pair it with a crisp apple, wrap it in cellophane, and tie it off with a festive ribbon for an easy fall treat that’s as fun to make as it is to give.
Homemade Caramel Sauce
-
1 (14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
-
Small mason jars (4 oz. jelly jars with lids and bands)
Directions:
- Divide the sweetened condensed milk evenly between the small mason jars (about 4 oz. each).
- Tighten the lids and bands just until fingertip tight — don’t overtighten.
- Place the jars in a slow cooker, making sure they’re not touching.
- Fill the slow cooker with hot tap water until the jars are completely covered by about 1 inch of water.
- Cook on LOW for 8–10 hours, or until the desired caramel color is reached.
- Carefully remove the jars from the water using tongs and let them cool completely before opening.

Once your caramel sauce has cooled, it’s time to dress it up for gifting! These little jars make the sweetest fall presents for teachers, neighbors, or dinner guests. Here’s how to put them together:
- Place one small jar of caramel sauce on the bottom.
- Set a crisp green apple (like a Granny Smith) right on top of the jar.
- Wrap both together in a clear cellophane bag, pulling the top together snugly.
- Tie it with a festive fall ribbon or piece of tulle – orange, gold, or burlap looks beautiful.
- Add a gift tag with a little note (you can grab some free printable ones HERE)
Display them in a basket, hand them out at fall gatherings, or tuck one into a teacher’s gift – they’re a simple, thoughtful way to share a bit of autumn sweetness.
