There’s something about summer mornings that feels different—slower in spirit, even when the schedule is full. I’ve found that waking up before the house gives me the space to ground myself, get ahead on work, and walk into the day feeling calm instead of catching up.
This is what a typical summer morning looks like for me.
4:30 AM — My quiet start
Before anyone else is up, I start my day in complete quiet. I make coffee, sit down with a devotional, and spend a few minutes in affirmations and prayer. It’s a small pocket of peace that sets the tone for everything that follows.
While I’m here, I usually start a load of laundry so it’s already moving in the background.
4:50 AM — Deep work block
This is my most focused time of the day, so I use it intentionally.
I’ll usually:
- Edit reels or content
- Work on captions and campaign deliverables
- Brainstorm and plan upcoming content ideas
No distractions, just focused work while my brain is fresh.
6:00 AM — Admin hour
Once I’ve made progress on creative work, I shift into admin mode.
This is when I:
- Go through emails
- Respond to DMs and texts
- Handle applications, follow-ups, and small tasks that keep everything moving
It’s not the glamorous part of the job, but it’s what keeps everything running smoothly.
6:40 AM — Getting ready for the day
Before the house wakes up, I take a few minutes to get organized.
I’ll:
- Review the calendar
- Check my to-do list
- Fill water bottles and prep anything we’ll need for the morning
It’s a quick reset that helps the rest of the day feel less chaotic.
7:00 AM — The kids are up
Once everyone is awake, the house shifts into family mode.
I make breakfast, get everyone settled, and we ease into the day together. I also try to clean as we go so things don’t pile up later.
I usually sip my pre-workout around this time if I’m planning to move my body later.
7:30–8:15 AM — Workout
This is often a “real life” workout – kids home, interruptions included, and I’ve learned to embrace that.
It’s not perfect, but it works.
8:15–8:40 AM — Reset the house
After the workout, we do a quick reset together.
-
Breakfast cleanup
-
Counters wiped
-
Beds made
-
Kids helping with small chores
-
Laundry rotated if needed
It’s a team effort and makes a big difference in how the rest of the day feels.
8:45 AM — Walk the dog
This is my transition moment.
A short walk, fresh air, morning light—just enough space to mentally shift from home mode into work mode.
9:00 AM — Officially start the day
By this point, the house is running, the basics are handled, and I can fully step into content
This routine doesn’t look perfect every day, but having a rhythm like this helps me feel grounded – especially in the busy summer season with kids home more often.
One of the most helpful things when it comes to mornings is knowing what the family is going to eat.
Some of our favorite summer breakfasts right now include:
- Breakfast sandwiches or wraps (a family favorite!)
- Yogurt parfaits with fresh berries and granola
- Protein smoothies
- Overnight oats
- Egg muffins made ahead for the week
- Sausage Pancake Bites
And when it comes to lunches and snacks, having a simple meal plan makes such a difference.
